Hi, my name is Sonya and I create the patterns for The Road to Knitting but when I’m not working on patterns for here I make products for our sister company Jefferson Crafts! Jefferson Crafts sells “beautifully crafted eco items for your home”. Our ethos is all about getting people live more sustainably so I thought why not share the eco love with my Road to Knitting fans? I have decided to put all our current knitted items onto one pattern pack for you.
The first pattern in the pack is for reusable make-up wipes, I knitted these out of cotton but used a moss stitch pattern to give them a gentle exfoliating finish. I made some coloured and some plain but actually they all wash well so the choice is yours. These little pads can be used with any make-up remover you like and then popped in with your general washing, I think the make-up remover must help in the washing to get them clean enough without needing to soak them. This cuts down on consumption of cotton wool or make-up remover wipes (which actually contain plastic so don’t biodegrade well).
These reusable water balloons are an eco-friendly alternative to latex balloons. No more picking up tiny pieces of burst balloon with these fun knitted alternatives. Enjoy guilt-free play in the garden with these easy to use water splash toys. Knit them in colours of your choice. The balloon finished size is approximately 9 cm x 19 cm (3.5 inches x 7.5 inches).
Get ready for the summer holidays with this travel game bag. There is a knitted draughts board on one side of the bag and noughts & crosses on the other, with the knitted game pieces stored inside. It measures approximately 30cm x 30cm (12 inches x 12 inches). Knit in colours of your choice.
The knitted dice can be finished in two ways; as a soft filled play dice or as a hard filled door stop. The finished size is a 16 cm (6.25 inch) cube. It is an ideal companion to the Road to Knitting snakes and ladders blanket. The soft play dice could also be used as an indoor play ball.
This fabulous blanket measures approximately 110 cm x 160 cm (43 inches x 63 inches). It is packed with detail including ladders, snakes and numbers, ready to play a game of snakes and ladders. This would look amazing in a child’s bedroom or as a statement piece in any room. It is great collaborative piece and stash buster. The blanket consists of 96 squares, each measuring approximately 13 cm x 13 cm (5 x 5 inches). It has a 5 cm (2 inch) border. The snakes and the ladders are knitted separately and stitched in position. The numbers are added with stitches.
The straight road roll up knitting pattern has eight pockets to hold toy cars. Roll it up for storage and secure it with the tie. It is compatible with the other road pieces. The finished size is approximately 68cm x 25cm (26.5 inches x 9.75 inches). It is knitted with green, grey and white double knit wool.
The road scarf with car storage pockets should fit children age 4 to 10. There is a pocket at each end to hold toy cars. When it is layed flat it becomes a play road. The finished size is approximately 120 cm x 15 cm (48 inches x 6 inches). It is knitted with grey and white double knit wool. Difficulty: beginner/ intermediate.
Anyone who plays with toy cars would be delighted with these knitted roads. They are easy to assemble and compact to store. The knitting pattern for each section is available individually. The road sections are approximately 37cm x 19cm (12 inches x 7.5 inches). The more sections you knit the bigger the road layout.
